...this morning, I woke up at 7:30 to an unusually dark bedroom. I sat up, looked at the time, and heard Beau in the kitchen and Sesame Street on the TV. Mornings when Beau gets up with Cruz are a wonderful little surprise for me and I smiled as I remembered the reason for this wonderful surprise.
The Big Green Egg is once again doing its thing.
And as I crawled out of bed and made my way to the living room to see what my boys were up to, I heard one more wonderful little surprise...
It was raining outside!
A warm, slow, refreshing rain was finally falling on our dry, brown, thirsty earth. It hasn't rained in weeks, our farmers here in the heartland are frantic, and frankly, I'm a little tired of Beau 'watering' my windows with his over-excited sprinkler. A day with nothing to do but stay in our pjs and play inside was a welcomed plan on this Friday the 13th.
But before we got busy with our busy-less Friday, we decided to cross one more thing off our Summer Bucket List.
We danced in the rain.
We finally got some use out of these cute rain boots and umbrellas. I showed Cruz how much fun it was to stomp in some rain puddles. We let the cool showers soak into our bodies as it soaked into the earth around us and instantly felt refreshed.
It's true that absence makes the heart grow fonder, I just hope it doesn't wait too long to surprise us again.
