Summer Vacation 2018 || See Ya Later, San Fran

We packed up our stuff and headed out early Sunday for our last and final leg of the trip.  But not before the kids talked us into a little more time at their new favorite playgrounds.  We told Chris and Snez it was really quite thoughtful of them to live so close to such sweet parks for our kids. ;)

Although we were anxious for the hot temps that awaited us in Tahoe, it was fun to feel a little fall in the midst of our summer vacation!  The mornings were cool and perfect for a chunky sweater and hot cup of coffee.

We bid farewell to San Francisco as we crossed the Bay Bridge and headed towards the mountains.  But not before finding lunch at our favorite West Coast staple...

We arrived in North Lake Tahoe just in time for check-in at the Resort at Squaw Creek.  And it didn't take long to realize this place was seriously amazing!  Remotely tucked away in the alpine forests of Lake Tahoe, this little ski resort was surrounded by mountains and dotted with big pine trees and quaking aspens.  The only music we heard play in the lobby all week was either Mumford and Sons or the Avett Brothers, which immediately made us feel right at home.  But as soon as we stepped out on the big deck that overlooked the property, we felt like we had stepped into a postcard.

The kids wanted in the pool, immediately, and it didn't take long to realize that we wouldn't really have to leave the resort at all if we didn't choose to.  From the large saltwater pool, hot tubs, and water slide, to the large green space with every lawn game imaginable, the kids were in hotel heaven.  There were activities for them to participate in every day - tie dyeing and archery, Quidditch matches, outdoor movies by the fire, and star-gazing hikes, and the twinkly lights and big outdoor stone fireplaces were enough to make me want to move right in.  I'm not a skier, but the thought of this place with snow on the ground made me question my ski bunny status.

All dressed up for dinner!  Since this leg of our vacation was an incentive trip through Beau's company, we got to reunite with many of our friends from across the country, including a few sweet families that are starting to feel more like our own family than work friends.  Farm Bureau and the travel company that accommodates the trip literally think of everything, and we are well taken care of during our stay.  Cruz and Mila especially appreciated the milk and cookies table during our first welcome dinner/reception!

After a delicious dinner, we headed to the big yard for some games of ping pong and bocce ball before calling it a night and getting to bed early.  We had a big day ahead tomorrow!
