Earlier last month, the four of us traveled up to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for a few days away. It was a trip through Beau's company and we were thankful we could drive just a few hours north to explore a new place we'd never been. Lake Geneva is boutique little town known for its old Chicago money, huge estates on the lake, and an old downtown lined with cute shops and award winning restaurants. We spent a few low-key days at the Abbey Resort and enjoyed some fun in the sun and on the lake for a few days.
Here we go!
The kids love these company trips. They have made some pretty great friends with lots of kids they look forward to seeing every year. And they go hard and sleep hard!
One of my favorite parts of Lake Geneva was the 27 mile loop that trails around the entire lake. While we didn't attempt the entire trail, we did walk a few miles of it in the mornings and admired the picturesque landscape designs and gorgeous homes along the way. Every property is responsible for upkeep on their part of the trail, thus showing off a unique design every few yards. My favorite was the cobblestone path bordered by the most gorgeous cut flower garden; the kids preferred the house with the second story infinity pool. ;)
A beach day!
Who did it better?!
And then we enjoyed a boating day. Mila tubed for the first time and loved it. We also discovered that if you turn a life jacket around and wear it like a diaper it makes for the perfect floating device. We had a great afternoon!
Our last morning there. We loved driving into town, grabbing a yummy breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe, and walking the prettiest part of the trail with a coffee. I have a feeling this trail is even prettier in October - maybe enough to take us back again someday.
