A Birthday Par-TEA

We celebrated Miss Mila's 7th birthday with a little Par-TEA with our family a few weeks ago.  It was simple and very Mila - we had a pretty dress, some sweet treats, and ample time for cousin play, the obvious stars of the show.  I sort of felt like I was cheating since I had already had a tea party birthday for our girl when she was two, but it was sweet to incorporate her little piggy-tailed self into my decor.  I printed some pictures of her party five years and loved seeing that her big joyful smile is still very much the same.

I really wish afternoon tea was still a thing.  My mom tells stories of going to her grandma's house almost every afternoon for tea (or strawberry pop and chocolate stars) and it sounds like the good life to me.  A cup of tea, a treat or two, and a table full of conversation and connection.  And while this proved to be a slight challenge with seven little ones around the table, it was fun to see them passing macarons, sipping their cocoa, and practicing their very best British accents.  And the birthday girl, well, she took the cake in that category!

For party food, we served chicken salad croissants and heart-shaped pb and js (loved by the kids AND Grandpa Merle), pasta salad, chips, and lots of treats.  Our pretty macarons from our local, Macarons by Sani, stole the show in the sweet treat department.  I had an assortment of teas, hot cocoa for the kids, and strawberry punch, and we played some tea party bingo.  And other than that, we had presents, birthday cake, lots of cousin time, and one happy little seven year old.

A birthday photo shoot, with curls, twirls, and the many faces of Mila.

Waiting for everyone to come is the hardest part!

She received so many sweet gifts that say so much about who she is as a 7 year old.

This kid and his British accent had to go to time-out by Great Grandma during present opening.

That's a wrap on a good run of holidays, birthdays, and parties!  And now... PUPPY! ;)
