Big City Dreams | Dance 2019

Mila wrapped up her third year of dance this past weekend, moving and grooving on the big stage at Gallagher Bluedorn in "Big City Dreams", another incredible production by Fusion Dance.  We've come a long way from the Tiny Tots days of going to practice for an entire year only to see her dance for 30 seconds and pick her up backstage immediately after!  This year, she was in four different dances, including the second act of the three-hour show and the fourth from the last!  Beau and Papa Curt were not sneaking out this year!  I got a whole new perspective on the dance world from our vantage point this year and I must say I walk away with a new appreciation for the entire operation!  It's pretty amazing to see how it all comes together.  There'a a lot of talent, hard work, and brain power that goes into a production of that scale and it's always neat to see your kids get to be a part of something like that.

Mila was in a jazz and hip hop class, as well as a ballet/tap mix this year, and had wonderful teachers and assistants leading the way.  She loved her small jazz/hip hop class with Miss Khloe and Miss Addyson, loved forming a sweet friendship with Eisley, and enjoyed picking up lots of new ballet technique from the talented Miss Debra and Miss Elise.  She was in four dances this year, all part of the Big City Dreams theme - a taxicab, sunshine in the city park, a candy shoppe, and a hair salon.  I always love that Fusion's recitals are choreographed with such fun music and costumes that all tell a bigger story.  Such a fun thing to see and be a part of.

We actually bailed on professional dance pictures this year.  It had been a busy week and neither one of us felt like it.  So one day after school when the boys were at baseball practice, I dressed her up and we went to do a little photo shoot of our own. :)

Rehearsal week!  It was a super busy week following the end of the school year with baseball games two nights, the start of VBS, and one really long dress rehearsal at Gallagher.  I dropped Mila off with a sack lunch and a bag full of things to keep her busy and picked her up almost four hours later!  It was a sweet night, though, and a reminder that my girl is most definitely growing up.

Recital day!  Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Beau, Cruz, and I all had front row seats to the show!  Afterwards, we gathered here for a barbecue, Grandpa, my Uncle Tracy, and Taylor and Kate joined, and we celebrated our dance girl and all the good dads who sit through three hour dance recitals! ;)

Mila liked Great Grandma's fresh perm!  I love these pictures of the two of them!

Until next year, leotards and tap shoes!
