Jorgensen Family Vacation 2019
We are inching closer and closer toward the one month away from school mark and while I'm sure we'll be ready to go by then, it just doesn't feel like it yet. I haven't registered the kids for school, I refuse to walk by the school supply aisles in Target, and hope to not start checking email again for at least another week. I'm still in summer mode over here and am sinking in deep to these days at home before life gets busy again.
And sinking in deep to our summer days at home is all the sweeter after returning from a big road trip last week, driving a whopping 41 hours and 40 minutes and putting 2,323.8 miles on the truck. Wowsa! We spent five days on the beach in Destin, Florida, and hung out in Nashville, Tennessee for a few days on our way home. We hadn't done a long road trip since our Vermont/Maine trip when Mila was just two and it was fun to travel that way again. There's just something that feels right about packing the truck to the brim, mapping out our route on a map and scoping out all the fun places to stop, preparing that epic road trip playlist, checking into a hotel with an outdoor pool twenty minutes before arriving, and logging all those hours together. This sort of planning and anticipating is my wheelhouse - I love making these experiences special because I know it's what they'll remember. Honestly, the night before we hit the road was just as special as dipping our toes in that ocean the first time. Packing the truck just so, seeing their wide-eyed grins turn to that hyper-excited-running-laps-around-the-truck, tucking them in their beds for the last time in awhile and explaining our plan to carry them to the truck in the wee hours of the morning, and the anticipation that only rivals that on Christmas night. It's sure fun to relive that childhood magic from this side of the fence.

We had a wonderful time away together and I can't wait to relive all the memories in the days to come. From walks in that powder sugar sand to learning to line dance at the Wildhorse Saloon, we added some new notches to our travel belts this trip and sure had fun while doing it. I love exploring the world with them.
