Summer Vacation 2018 | Battery Spencer
|| There was something so strikingly beautiful about San Francisco and my pictures of this city will forever be some of my favorites. I was thankful for our beautiful sunny afternoons there, but there was something about that morning fog that enveloped the skyline that gave it such a mysterious and hauntingly cool vibe. That same fog would start to settle in around dusk every night and made for a chilly and romantic backdrop for our exploring. After a busy day in the city, we stayed close to home Thursday night, ate clam chowder on the water at Salitos, and climbed up to the tiptop of Battery Spencer, in search of some great views of San Francisco's most iconic landmark.
We weren't up there too long, but it was enough to give us all the feels as we drank in the night and sights around us. We were so high in elevation that the temperature and wind change were quite noticeable, the kind of chilly that felt like a delicious fall Friday night. There were all kinds of people there - photographers with huge tripods that made me drool, teenage lovebirds taking kissing selfies, and groups of friends drinking wine out of paper bags. We stood much higher than the bridge and literally felt on top of the world. It was thrilling, cozy, and a little bit eerie.
Beau had the camera just as Mila and I were making our way back to the car. I'm so glad he did - love these cozy pictures with her.
Chilled to the bone, we got back in the car and headed to our home away from home just as the sky started to turn pink. At first I was disappointed we didn't stay at the lookout long enough, but the views from our hotel quickly made up for it. We got there just in time for homemade cookies and milk and sat on the patio before bed. And then we curled up in those dreamy beds and slept like babies.
