We are in that slow drip of summertime, that familiar end-of-July feeling where we fall right on the cusp of in between. We have fallen accustomed to our new routine of late mornings piled in bed, long afternoon naps, and popsicles in the tub before bed, yet we see summer's end creeping behind in the not-so-distant future. I start to feel behind and compelled to weave some work productivity into my schedule, yet, maximize my days of fun with the kids. But this summer feels slower than usual, perhaps because our vacation fell in June this year, making July feel longer, or maybe because routines with two under four tend to require a slower pace. Either way, we're enjoying this July and all that's come with it.
// Saturday morning donuts and coffee on the deck...
// Lawnmower rides around the house
// Post pool supper prep...
// Grilled dinners on the deck, no silverware required...
// 11:00 dates at the pool for swimming lessons
// Weekend afternoons at the pool with Daddy, and sno-cone breaks in between
// The start of Cruz's very first t-ball season. A pretty special one with his daddy and uncle coaching and his cousin, Charly, on his team.
// A little summer school while Mila naps...
// A new take on our weekly library visit...
Cruz discovered a caterpillar on my leg. :)
// Lots of slow afternoons of play...
// Cedar Valley Family Day at George Wyth. Kayak rides, archery stations, fishing, and our favorite, minnow races!
// The Allison Days' parade, where the kiddos got to ride as cowboys on the library's float. It was hot but the kids loved being in the show. Cruz loved playing the part of a cowboy and his genuine smile was so evident. And Mila, she fully embraced the parade life. Waved big and yelled her famous, "Hi!" to everyone. Especially when she spotted her Great Grandma!
// Lots of nights spent out here. We love our backyard retreat.
// An afternoon at the splash pad.
Last week of July before a bittersweet August...
