"a portrait of each of my children, once each week, in 2015"
Cruz: Cruz starts swimming lessons this week with Jacob, his rock star teacher from group lessons last year. I have a feeling he's going to learn so much as he's very eager to learn to swim. Daddy made it to the pool with us the last two weekends and Cruz finally got his chance to go down the big slide. Mila and I watched from the side and laughed as Cruz's fear-filled expression turned to the biggest smile as their tube splashed into the pool. He absolutely loved it and wanted to go again and again. We were most proud of him when his tube threw him off the second time around and as Beau (and the lifeguard) quickly acted to pull him up, he had the biggest smile on his face and exclaimed, "That was awesome!" He's made strides again this summer and I know it's just a matter of time before he's in the big water.
Mila: Mila started a little big timid in the water this summer, but seemed to flip a switch late last week. In typical Mila fashion, she insisted on walking in the kiddie pool by herself, and did not want me to hold or hand (or stand within three feet of her). She doesn't yet realize where she can and cannot touch, and seems to like the deeper end far more than the safer depth for her. Needless to say, I'm much more content when Mila gets lost in the sprinklers on the side of the kiddie pool. She'll play there forever and doesn't flinch as she sticks her entire head in the middle of the sprinkler, covering her ears and screeching as she runs away, only to return seconds later. It's adorable.
