Jorgensen Road Trip 2016 // Day 2
We woke up Friday morning rested and surprisingly, ready to get on the road again. The kids were wild in our little hotel room, jumping on beds, running in and out to the indoor pool right outside our room, and eating cereal out of glasses. It was raining outside and the hourly forecast predicted clearer skies by mid-morning, so we took our time and stopped at a Tim Horton's for coffees and donuts before making our way to the Falls.
We had a great time exploring this natural wonder and learning more about just how big it is. We didn't know that the three combined falls have the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, and that 6 million cubic feet of water falls over the crest line every minute. We stayed on the America side, which gets us closer to the water, although the Canadian side is said to have better panoramic views. I really wished for a drone because I'll bet views from the air are the best of all. :)
Lots of tourists means lots of opportunities to take pictures for one another. And a very slim chance all four of us will be looking at the camera at the same time!
Beau and I laughed over the fact that here we stood in one of the greatest natural wonders in the world and our kids were more interested in singing bible school songs and pushing each other in the stroller, giggling at every near collision. Someday they'll appreciate the investment. :)
Humid hair, Mila don't care! She did, however, care a lot about this little splash area she discovered on our walk back to the car. While she would have loved to stay and play, we coerced her back to the car with Beauty and the Beast and a sucker, for we had another five hours up to Les and Ronnie's!
Our drive from Buffalo up to Manchester was slow, with lots of road construction and toll booths, but the sight of these mountains in the distance gave us lots of motivation.
We made it!
