I loved our last night in Destin. We got all dressed up and went on a family date night to nearby Baytowne Wharf for our last dinner at sea. I know most parents think this is crazy, but I actually love taking our kids out to eat. We played lots of UNO, Would You Rather, and tic tac toe around the table together, and grossed the kids out with plenty of food that required breaking some shells open first. ;) I loved that there was a family of four right next to our table, a well dressed family with an older boy (we guessed him to be 20) and a younger sister (we guessed her about 16). They were all elbow deep in a big steamer platter of crab legs and oysters and were having so much fun together. I watched them and had fun thinking about years down the road, hopeful our kids will continue to be sweet to one another and that someday they will enjoyed the good food. ;)
One more Florida sunset on a beautiful night...
Our last night on the beach was such a good one. There were bonfires and s'mores on the sand and a crab hunt along the shore. With a night sky full of stars and wild waves crashing beside us, the kids pranced around in the sand with flashlights and buckets and nets, digging holes and screaming in nervous delight every time they'd find one. Then one by one, they lined up along the shore and watched them make their way to the foamy waves. Beau and I sounded like broken records that night, convinced we will all store this little memory away for a lifetime. That one time we had a fire and hunted for crabs on the beach...
