Vacation 2019 || Nashville, Part 2

And just like that we were up in Nashville for our last official day of summer vacation.  We had a big drive ahead of us, but wanted to make the most of our last day in Nashville before we headed home and Beau headed back to work.  It's always our favorite part of vacation, no matter where we go - an opportunity to just be together, drive each other a little crazy, and mostly just soak up this season, our kids, and doing life together.

I loved this little front porch of our airbnb.  I was taking a few pictures of the kids and a sweet lady walking her dog stopped to take some family ones.  What a treat she was!

We started our Saturday with brunch at the trendy Pinewood Social, a retro-inspired bar with amazing cocktails, inventive plates, a bowling alley, and a green space with a swimming pool and bocce ball.  At this point of our time in Nashville, it was easy to draw the conclusion that this city was about far more than live country music.  So much fun foodie love in music city!

After brunch, we did a little shopping in The Gulch, Beau wanting to move right in to the guitar room at Two Old Hippies and me wanting to buy all the things there.  We traded the famous black wings mural for some other street art when we saw a line of tourists all the way down the block.  Even I wasn't going to wait in the heat for a picture with some wings!

It was hot hot hot out and we gave the kids some time to cool off in one of the city parks before lunch.  While our wide open spaces in Iowa will always be my preferred way of living, giving our kids a taste of urban splash pads and concrete playgrounds is a fun change every now and then.  And they fit right in!

And last but not least, we couldn't leave Nashville without a good dose of live music.  We spent the rest of our day at the Wildhorse Saloon, a family friendly multi-level music joint with live music every hour and a lot of line dancing in between.  We had a table right next to the dance floor, participated in all the line dancing lessons, sipped sweet tea and enjoyed the free pool and foosball on the third floor.  It was such a fitting and fun ending to our vacation!

And that's a wrap!  We packed up our things and drove through the night, arriving home sweet home early in the wee hours on Sunday.  Bodies exhausted, hearts full of good memories of such special time together.
