First purchases

Although I'm trying to hold off on the majority of baby purchases until we find out if we're having a boy or girl, it's impossible to not buy some things. I watch the sales at Von Maur and Target, and have ordered a few things from Amazon. After looking through my baby box the other day, I thought I would write to remember the first purchases for baby from its mom and dad.

Purchase #1: Mom's First Purchase

Cubs gear is easy to buy because it will be cute for boy or girl. This Cubs' board book is adorable. It's even better when Beau reads from it. I can just hear him teaching our child about Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, and the Fergie Jenkins. He wants our baby's first word to be 'Friendly Confines.' Who knows...maybe Beau's Cubbies will take it all the way this year to honor Baby J?!?! I don't want to jinx them, but that'd sure be something for the baby book!

Purchase #2...Brace yourself....Dad's First Purchase

I agree, it's a bit scary. It may be soft and cuddly, and I can just see a little one carrying it by its floppy arm, but come on...the eyes are creepy weird and no matter how you leave it, it always seem to lay in an awkwardly provocative playboy pose. Beau thinks it's awesome, I find it a little frightening.

So yes, these are our first purchases for our son or daughter. I'm sure there is more to come.

Beware, Baby J, you have no idea what you are in for!
